Hey All, Probably a strange one here. I recently bought a house that had an addition added on about 15 years ago. We love the addition, but are less than thrilled with how they handled the HVAC in there.
They mounted a HVAC unit horizontally under the addition in a sort of crawl space area. This HVAC unit is rather loud and I would prefer that area to be quieter.
The rest of the house has a much older HVAC unit that is due for replacement and while I do that, I was debating the idea of oversizing it and routing ducting to this addition. The old HVAC unit is directly on the other side of the wall from this crawl space area, so the ducting run would be simple (other than a brick wall penetration, which will certainly cause some heartache).
My question is essentially: is this a realistic idea and in premise, would it be possible?
Also, does anyone know of some reputable HVAC companies in the Chicago area that would actually consult and bid out for the work?
