Ok, so last week my AC went out (just bought the place earlier this year). System was a 20 year old split system with a Goodman 4 Ton 12 SEER R22 condensor and a Mortex Coil. I called one of the best rated companies in my area to come check it out and they recommended replacing it with a new system since the coil couldn't be repaired or replaced because it's R22 and it would cost more in the long run than just replacing it now.
I was quoted $3500 for a new Heil 14 SEER 4 Ton condenser (Guessing an N4H4) and a new Mortex coil installed. The air handler/electric furnace was apparently fine and didn't need to be replaced
They came out to install this morning, and I went by the house during lunch to see how it was going. They were installing a Goodman GSZ14.
Now I'm not too sure as to the exact model number of the Heil that was going to be installed, but it seemed weird to me that the company would quote a specific name brand condenser and then install something completely different without letting me know first. The technician that was installing the system said they probably sent that one because it was in stock. I asked him if he knew any difference between brands as far as quality and efficiency and he just gave a general statement that everyone gets Goodman and it's probably better.
I need a second opinion. What do you think I should do since I've already paid everything?
