I recently had a change of teachers, The first owned an A/C company and had 40 years field experience in residential/light commercial. My current teacher came from 28 years commercial refrigeration. Our first teacher told us to charge the system by subcooling for a TXV and superheat for a piston or cap tube. Now my 2nd teacher tells us to charge the system by subcool and always check superheat? Im not sure if its because he is use to checking superheat all the time on refrigeration but he said its to check if the txv is good. Do you normally check superheat with a TXV? i live in FL and intend to stick with residential and light commercial.
