It is pretty old, 2003 is the year on it. Last summer it cooled fine and in the winter it was heating ok. Now that summer is coming, it very noticeably seems to not cool very good.
If I set it to say 74 degrees, it will be on constantly and won't actually cool that much.
Thermostat seems to be ok. Inside blower seems to work. I don't notice anything physically wrong. Everything powers on and sounds the same as it always has.
I've read it could be out of refrigerant or the compressor is bad. Are there any clues to tell if it's one or the other?
I can also tell you that no technician has done anything to it in over 10 years. No one has ever come to add refrigerant. Could it finally be out after all this time? I'm hoping it's not the compressor since I've read they're expensive.
If it is a refrigerant issue, how much does that generally cost to fix?
Thanks
