I have some questions regarding AC

I have a studio apartment that is about 600 square feet and I have been mulling over what type of air conditioner to get. I see the 1.5 ton air condensers and am wondering if that to much to get for my place. I live in California and the weather isn't too bad. That, of course, is the more expensive option.

I am currently unsure how much it costs to do all the work to put a 1.5 ton AC unit in along with all the ducting so if anyone had an estimate that would be cool.

Also I was considering purchasing a portable 14k BTU AC unit that says it can cool 700 sq feet with good review for roughly $500, would this be a better option for me?
