Sizing mini splits

2 questions- I read somewhere to add 4,000 BTU's to your manJ calculation if you are putting the evaporator in a kitchen area. I have an open kitchen/dining room/entry that needs about 12,500 BTUs of cooling. Should I "size up" to a 15k? My only hesitation is my worries of oversizing. On the plus side, I could hold off on putting a 6k in the adjacent living room as my window unit tends to keep the first floor pretty comfortable and I'll be getting a 4 zone condenser.

Second question is similar- I have a roughly 8,000 BTU need on the second floor landing/guest bedroom/small nursery. Being on the second floor does that need to be sized up to a 12k to handle extra rise in heat vs a 9k?

Thanks.
