Questions on New Construction HVAC Quote

Hi /r/HVAC,

I have two Trane options I'm trying to decide between and I wanted to see if the estimates were reasonable and which option made the most sense. I will be building in the Midwest and the house will be a ~2,400 sq.ft. ranch. Thanks in advance for any input.

Option 1

  • An 80,000 Btu 97% Efficient Natural Gas furnace
  • XR-16 2-1/2 ton 15 Seer AC outdoor unit
  • XL-825 Programmable Thermostat internet ready
  • Steel Trunk lines supply and Return, insulated in non-conditioned spaces.
  • Branch duct R-6 insulated to increase efficiency and reduce fan noise

Labor, Material, and Taxes: $12,300

Option 2

  • S9-V2 , 80,000 Btu @ stage Variable speed Furnace
  • XV-18 3 ton AC
  • XL-850 Communicating Programmable Thermostat internet ready
  • Steel Trunk lines supply and Return, insulated in non-conditioned spaces.
  • Branch duct R-6 insulated to increase efficiency and reduce fan noise

Labor, Material, and Taxes: $15,000

Accessories

  • Merv 8 5 inch Box Filter: $170.00
  • Humidifier: $130.00

Warranties

  • Lifetime heat exchanger warranty
  • 10 year limited warranty on parts
  • 2 year warranty on labor
