Just as the title says. I have a lennox unit (sorry, not sure on model #) from 2007 that uses 410A? I think. We had our first real hot day yesterday and it struggled to get the house cool (outside temp 32C and could only cool the house down to 25) and ran all day.
Tech came out and said it was low, added a pound to get us through the night and is coming back tonight. He's going to bring the dye kit today to find the leak and suggests that we replace all of the refrigerant. Is this normal practice? He does this on the side and did me a favour by coming out yesterday, but I'm not 100% sure that it's necessary to replace all of it.
After the charge, it still struggled, but was able to get the house down to 22 after a few more hours of running (and the outside temp had come down to around 26).
Sorry, I don't know the details about the unit (size, etc). The house is 2700 sq ft w/o the basement and we do have some circulation issues. The front of the house on the second floor has never cooled or heated properly.
