I recently had a service tech look at our outdoor unit and quoted me to replace the "condenser cooling assembly". We paid (a lot) to have this replaced.
Once it was replaced, he then said that there was 0 out of 7 lbs of freon in the system and there must be a leak. The main office told me that "we can't test the freon unless the condenser was working".
I feel like i'm getting played because they're now quoting me double the cost i've already spent to fix the leak and add freon.
My question is: can the freon not be tested unless the condenser is working or did they drop the ball on this? If I had known it would cost this much, i'd have looked at getting a new unit altogether.
