Bought a split-foyer house last year in Maryland. Winters are now below freezing regularly.
The house was flipped, and side boards ripped out. Instead, a new furnace was added to the existing A.C. ductwork, which only ran 2 ducts to the lower level.
Downstairs is freezing for obvious reasons. It has the kitchen, so kinda important to keep warm. Its also a very open space overall.
Had an HVAC company come out and recommends replacing the old ductwork, trying to run more Supply downstairs, adding zone controls to three new ducts, and trying to insulate the house little better. The duck work alone will be about $7,000 without drywall work.
Would it be more economic and affordable to simply have an in-wall gas furnace/sideboard installed on that floor?
Or do I need to bite the bullet and get it done?
