I am only youtube/google smart on my HVAC, sorry if this isn't technical enough.
I woke up and the HVAC fan was blowing in the house but no cold air. The condenser unit outside was not going on so I was just blowing warm air around. Most things online say the capacitor could be shorted or the switch.
I pushed the switch on with a screwdriver and it is working. Does the capacitor run the switch turning on and could be sorted and that is why the switch isn't coming on, or is it the switch that is broken if the condenser isn't turning on? There was no sound or click from the condenser. Making me think it is just the switch.
I kind of jerry rigged it up so the switch is pressed and it is working. The house is cooling off. Since it is a holiday weekend, I can't get the parts until Tuesday. Am I going to do harm by letting it run like this over the next two days? Thanks for any insight/advice.
