Need A/C Help! Through The Wall Setup

Hi All,

I recently had my bedroom air conditioner unit crap out on me. To say it is a clunker is giving it a compliment, I am happy to get rid of it. Just a quick note, my home is a rental so I am not looking to invest a fortune.

Anyways, I have a through the wall setup in my home. Currently the sleeve is about 27" in width. I see plenty of 26" sleeves to choose from, but the problem is that the air conditioners I am looking at are only about 24" wide. I do not need some huge 14k BTU units as our bedrooms are quite small so it would be overkill.

I am going to hire somebody to install the unit, but how the heck are they going to close the gap on the 2" within the sleeve, and then the 1" gap between the new sleeves I am buying and the existing 27" sleeve? Are there insulation kits available to ensure I will not have hot air come in during the winter, and also keep out the cold air in the winter?

I hope this is an easy job, as I honestly did not want to spend a fortune to replace an AC unit in a rented home.

I appreciate the help in advance, thank you!
