For the past couple of weeks our AC will run for about an hour and then the outside part of the system will shut off for a few minutes. During this time the blower inside will keep running. After a few minutes the outside will kick back on. This "cycle" will occur 5 times, after that the outside part shuts off for good and the indoor part keeps blowing hot air. We have days where this doesn't happen but for the most part it is a daily occurence. I will go throw the breakers on the panel "they are not tripped, just cycling them" and we start over.
When the outside part is off it is not making any noise at all. Dealing with a warranty company, tech wants to replace the defrost control board but he doesn't seem real confident that that is the problem.
Had the same issue over the winter when in heat pump mode. Different tech then noted high pressure and removed non compressible. So far the current tech is saying pressures look good. Warranty will cover part of the defrost control board but I will be out of pocket for some of it. Like I said before the tech isn't real confident that that is the problem so I hoping for a second opinion
