They weren't kidding-first time homebuyer, issue day #1

I just bought my first house, arrived yesterday to take possession, the plumber came out to give a quote on a new gas line and while in the basement I noticed a dripping pipe "hmm, is that supposed to be doing that?" It was covered in ice and melting. The plumber commented something about it probably needs freon. I turned off the AC and within an hour or so the ice was gone. I have a call in to the HVAC guy via home warranty but curious if anyone has thoughts on how big of a problem this might be? I'm not due to move in for 10 days and am not in town so left the AC off but can manage to have someone to look at it while I'm gone and hopefully it's ok until then since it's off.
