Replaced the blower motor in our residential HVAC; now makes a clunking noise when it shuts off.

We have a Rheem heat pump with the air handler in the attic. For some reason, the fan motor has broken three times now in the past 15-16 years- most recently today. I had the previous motor repaired, and installed that. It works fine, except when the thermostat turns off- there's a metallic clunk! noise from inside the air handler that we've never had before.

Any ideas what to look for?
