tl:dr does thicker insulation help reduce/prevent popping sounds from FCU?
Hi HVAC! A while ago I posted about some popping sounds from one of my FCUs. Since then the manufacturer LG has changed FCU twice and the coil twice. I live in a tropical country.
Even with the changes, I'm still hearing pops and cracks consistently through the night. There is also a new problem where water spits out (very little) when the FCU just starts up.
LG's only suggestion is to change the coil again or that I may be too sensitive about the noises.
I was wondering if changing to thicker insulation for the pipes could help this popping problem? My uneducated guess that if it's not a coil issue or the plastic case (I'm certain of it), could it be the pipes cracking from contraction/expansion? Would it be loud enough to pop through the FCU?
On the water spits, the technician removed a divider from the FCU stating it's not necessary. Didn't solve the issue either. Any ideas about water spits?
