I currently have a 28-year-old Trane XE60 with a Trane XE1000 3 Ton condenser and an original evap coil. The furnace and blower is on its last legs and does not adequately heat or cool the upper level of our 2-story home. The home is 2,200sqft and has a fully finished basement. My neighbor does HVAC work and does side jobs, he exclusively sells Rudd/Rheem through his distributor warehouse. I had him price me out a couple of systems and wanted to get some ideas. We just moved into this home last fall and got our first Electric Bill running the A/C and were shocked. The bill was over 180 dollars and the summer is just beginning. We would like to get a new system but would have to get financing for it. I know if I go to HVAC companies they probably won't be able to come close to these prices but I am thinking of getting a few bids from well-known install companies in the area.
I have four possible system options.
