We had a new AC unit installed last summer. Since then a mechanical damper switch failed (I think that is what they are called). Our neighbor who installed the switch said that the damper is open. But when the air in turned on up stairs, no cold air is being pushed out of the vents. We have a three step ranch and cold air comes out downstairs but the vents upstairs only get cool. You cannot feel air coming out. To top all of this off, when turning on the AC after it hasn't been used we get a sewage smell throughout the house. Out HVAC unit is in a utility room near a floor drain. We are constantly pouring water down that drain to no avail. The AC indoors doesn't have a drain tray, just a pvc pipe that runs from the unit into the drain. Phew, that's a lot. Any suggestions?
