When we have our new heat pump or air conditioner installed, we are going to need more wires than we currently have (3) to run everything. We have a Nest thermostat but the contractor who came out today said he could sell me a Honeywell thermostat (~$300) with a radio module so he wouldn't have to tear into the finished part of the basement. He said the Nest will not work with any type of radio module but I'd like a second opinion on if that's the case or not. Has anyone used a Nest with a radio module before and if so, brand/model? The contractor seems hesitant to try and pull new wires. The area directly below the thermostat and a few feet towards the furnace is finished which makes it impossible to see the wires. They don't seem to be stapled to the wall because he was able to pull on them and everything moved freely but the holes that were drilled are pretty close to the nominal size of the wire. Is it worth it to tie some Southwire SIMpull to the end upstairs and try to pull it through without ripping into the ceiling?
