Daikin is a massive brand in Australia and I'm not sure why. They are solidly built and highly regarded, however I have seen many faults.
For example, at work we had 11 out of 15 mini split condenser fan motors changed at once due to bad bearings, several clicking "vane" motors and weird electronic bugs that require several call outs to be mostly resolved. These issue include unnecessary defrosts, and a system that requires frequent power cycling for errors that are yet to be found.
Even my own Daikin ducted system at home (was already installed when I bought the house) is really poor at heating. It doesn't work as an inverter in heat mode, only cooling. So while it works, it certainly isn't as comfortable or efficient as it could be. It also goes into "oil return" mode more often than I would like (I have never known another residential unit to require this function). Daikin themselves have checked out the unit and say "thats the way its made".
Their logic behind the way they work doesn't seem straight forward.
Anyone else have a similar experience?
