Hey, I'm a second-year apprentice in plumbing. The company I've been working for is focused on residential hydronic systems. We do some install work but it's largely a service gig. In the downtime we do quite a bit of handyman plumbing and the odd commercial job or residential repipe.
My experience is probably a little oddball for a plumber. I've certainly spent more time with a multimeter in hand than a torch. And I really enjoy working on controls. It excites me in a way that setting a thousand toilets doesn't.
It seems that this sort of work is pretty limited in plumbing and that it's more of an HVAC skillset. If I stick with my apprenticeship what are my job opportunities at a proper HVAC company down the road? I'd rather not like to transition with helper wages.
