I've posted before about my abnormally relentless 1987 Comfortmaker AC Unit that somehow keeps kicking. After coming back from a week away, the Unit was no longer able to keep the house cool (was working fine before, though I'm sure very inefficiently). Everything still seems to "work", including the compressor, but I did notice that the Air Handler (in the Attic like overhang of the back of a 1500sqft Cape Cod) is facing some tough conditions. The Exhaust Fan is working, but seems to runs most all day. It's set at 90°, but gets up to 110° rather quickly, and never gets any cooler. Could this be heatsoaking the Handler?
I'm having some quotes done next week to replace everything, but in the meantime, if I need to replace this Attic Exhaust Fan, that's something I can tackle myself.
