The other day I came home and the fan was circulating air, but just ambient temperature air and the house was 87*. I turned it off at the thermostat and at the breaker. Twenty minutes later, restored power and turned it on. It ran cold for about 4 hours. Next day, same story, called AC guy. He came and said the freon pressure was too high and he adjust it to spec. It ran great for about 6 hours. This morning, it's circulating ambient air again. The outside fan and compressor just aren't turning on. It has a new filter. I only keep it set at 78 to cut humidity, so I don't think it's freezing up.
It's a three year old Carrier running a small single story home.
Any idea what could cause this, before I call them out again?
