I live in North Phoenix and for the following year I've had a particularly strange situation going on with my AC.
After my house has been cooled down to the desired temperature it will not turn back on by itself. Instead when it kicks back on, it just hums in a real loud way. It will turn back on though if I manually turn the fan (fishing pole spinning the blades through the top vent). At times this takes multiple attempts.
I'm not really home too much so what I've been doing is turning off my AC when I'm gone, starting it when I get home and turning it down real low, knowing that it won't reach that temp until I go to bed. Right before I go to bed I turn it off. And start the process again.
Do you think that I have an AC problem or maybe a thermostat problem? It will blow cold so the AC is functional. It's a Carrier if that helps.
