I came home from work today to discover a water stain on my ceiling. After going into the Armpit of Satan, I found that the P Trap coming directly off the unit is sweating and dripping water onto the plywood decking. The aux pan has no water in it, the float switch is after the trap, and the unit has been working perfectly with no interruption.
The unit is only 18 months old, as we had to completely replace the complete system, as the old one was stolen (foreclosure).
Is it safe to remove the float switch and peer inside? It seemed pretty snugly set, and I didn't want to break it. I couldn't tell if the drain is operating outside, as it was raining for a vast majority of the day and everything is wet at the pipe's termination.
I'm not the best at HVAC related troubleshooting. Should I just bite the bullet and schedule a service call?
