We had a tech come out to diagnose why the central air wasn't cooling the house. The system ended up needing 2 lbs. of puron and a replacement dual capacitor.
While checking over the whole system the tech discovered that an upstairs damper was closed. I'm pretty sure this damper has been closed since the system was installed 10 years ago because my room has always been a lot warmer than the whole house. I always attributed it to my gaming computer and large TV, but this must have been the real issue.
The good news is now my room is now nice and cool. The bad news is when the fan kicks into high gear the vent in my room is so loud I cannot watch TV. Here is a video of the noise. The uploaded video honestly doesn't do it justice. When the vent is on it sounds like I'm in a wind tunnel.
I wasn't home when the tech fixed the system, but I assume he opened the damper to 100%. I wonder if the damper needs to be closed slightly?
Is there such a thing as less restrictive vent? I like the air flow, just don't like the noise...
