http://imgur.com/a/1eh5y Had a local HVAC tech come out to look at my A/C that wouldn't turn on. He determined the problem was that the electrical connection was bad due to rust/corrosion as you can see in the picture. He said he couldn't (or wouldn't) fix it and I needed a new A/C unit. So long story short, I replaced the wire that had the plastic melt off of it and sanded down the part where it contacts the A/C unit until it got to bare metal and it has been working nicely since then, but I imagine the problem will come back eventually. The question is: Is that corroded/rusted part something that can typically be replaced? It seems stupid to replace the whole unit because that one part is rusted. Was that guy just trying to make an easy sale?
Thanks for your input
