New minisplit system. Install company said to avoid "Auto" mode. Why?

I am having a new ductless mini split system installed (Mitsubishi MXZ outdoor unit and 4x MSZ indoor wall units). The sales person, install techs and some of the videos I've watched online say to avoid using the "Auto" mode and instead use either heat mode or cool mode on all 4 of the units. I asked the sales person who gave me the quote and the install techs and the answer I got is that "It just works better in the PNW."

I'm hoping for a bit more detail about that. I know that all of the indoor units need to operate on the same mode (heat/cool) to work at the same time, but I also see in the manual that if they are in different modes the outdoor unit will switch between heating and cooling mode and alternate between the indoor units.

What trade-offs am I making by leaving the system in auto mode 24x7, and by how much is this impacting my bill/efficiency etc?

I live in the Seattle area, so our current temp of mid 80's is warm for us, and it is also rare to get down to freezing, but it happens a few dozen nights a year. Snow is a special occasion.

Also if it is helpful to tailor your answers I know the basics of how the mini splits work, but the details of for example efficiencies lost when switching from heating to cooling modes is the info I seem to be missing.

Thanks in advance for any info you might be able to provide. I very much appreciate it, and I have a feeling i'll be lurking here for a while looking for answers to questions I didn't even know I have yet.
