So, I decided to replace my old Janitrol HPT-18-60 thermostat the other day so I could have the ability to to create a weekly schedule (gone for 12 hours at a time).
Here is the original Janitrol wired up: http://imgur.com/a/3XhRF Notice that the W2 and E wires have seperate terminals
I replaced it with a Honeywell RTH9580WF which apparently has the E/W2/AUX into one terminal.
Currently wired up configuration: http://imgur.com/a/uyqsp
The manual didn't really state on how to go about connecting the two since they were originally different terminals. It said to go to this website, blah blah blah. Didn't help basically. But I know that this thermostat CAN be used with a heat pump WITH emergency heat.
So, any idea guys? I read somewhere that I could just wire nut the two together and have them connected to the same terminal. But, I'm not gonna chance it and screw something up. I guess since the old thermostat switch was a manual one and the new one is a digital one that might work? Or I'm just convincing myself that that would work.
TL;DR - Got a new thermostat and it doesn't have separate E and W2 terminals, where does the E wire go now?
