Just bought a house, the old heat pump was bad, so before we closed it was replaced. Here is where it gets odd. Tonight I was checking to make sure it was running ok, and while the a/c works just fine, I do not believe the heating is. I believe that the heat strips are coming on and heating the home, but the pump itself isn't turning on. If I am understanding correctly, the outside units fan should be running. But it isn't. But as soon as I kick it into cooling, it does. So part of this journey is that I am looking at putting in an Ecobee4 once they release, so this got me looking at the thermostat when I noticed that 2 wires were not connected. Brown and Orange.
This is what is connected
White- W
Yellow- Y
Green- G
EMPTY- O
Red- R
EMPTY- B
Blue- C
This is the air handler that was installed Goodman aruf43c14aa and this is the heat pump Goodman GSX140421KC
The thermostat is a honeywell soon to be Ecobee4. Sorry I don't know the model of the Honeywell. It looks like a Pro3000 non programmable.
Can anyone help me with this? I really don't want to have to deal with a high electric bill because of only the heat strips running. I attached a picture of the wiring on the thermostat as it is currently. Sorry, I am not at the house to get more info tonight.
Thanks!
