Potential Home Buyer: House Has A Boiler and I Barely Know Anything About HVAC

Looking for general advice and answers to some dumb questions in regards to buying a house with a boiler. I'm touring a house tonight and I've never lived in a house with a boiler and radiators. The house also doesn't have central AC, but does have window units. I've been reading a bit about boilers, but still don't know enough.

I've had several people tell me not to buy a house with a boiler because they are outdated technology and the parts will be difficult and expensive to come by if/when it needs to be fixed. The listing says the boiler has recently been replaced.

What do I need to know about the yearly maintenance and upkeep of a boiler? Should I avoid a house with a boiler if I don't know shit about them?

Is it fiscally and functionally possible to remove a boiler and replace it with a furnace? I know there would have to be duct work and vents added, but is it even possible to swap out for central heating/cooling?
