I just moved into an apartment in an old house. The bedroom window (yes, only one window that opens) is a very small lateral sliding window. The previous tenant left behind a portable LG AC unit that is downright terrible. Inefficient, loud, and gives off heat via vent hose.
I have been searching for a window unit small enough the fit this odd window, but so far no luck. The opening is 13.5" high by 13" wide. I've found a few of short enough height, but 16" width seems to be the smallest available.
Is this a lost cause? Should I stick with the portable and just get a more efficient machine? I am responsible for the cost of electricity so I want to cut back as much as possible.
