Trying to spec a heating system for 400 sqft uninsulated garage

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to spec a heating system for a 400 sqft uninsulated garage. It is an old construction with 1/2" boarded walls with shingles and 24" on center true 2x4s. I don't know how many air changes we get right now, but it's gotta be frequent.

In comparing adding insulation (DIY install) to continuing uninsulated, I'd be aiming for a 2 year break even. My location sees 7400 degree days.

Also trying to figure out what heating system to use. Space is a concern. If it's electric I'll have to figure about $300 for a sub-panel install with 240v 60A circuit.

I'd like to maintain an above freezing temperature 24/7 with a 30 minute time to heat the space to 60 degrees.

My first inclination is to go radiant only propane and skip the insulation. But I haven't touched these calcs in forever and was hoping for some thoughts and guidance before I dive in.
