Every year around May or so I make a facebook post about how it isn't really hot yet but the weather is starting to change. How now is a great time to go outside, really clean up the vegetation around the outside unit, and if you are so inclined go ahead and clean hvac parts and if not have somebody come out and give it a yearly inspection and or maintenance. The reasoning being that if a system isn't running at peak efficiency it will give on the absolute hottest day of the year and that is the worst time to need help both in terms of being miserable and availability of a tech to come out short notice during the busy time.
Then around this time of year my facebook, and this subreddit for example is all of a sudden flooded with tons and tons of OMG MY AC IS OUT OMG posts!!!!!
Each one I see makes me die a little inside because I just know that their system has been neglected for years and now all of a sudden they are in a hurry.
It's like if somebody never changed their oil and then all of a sudden was really pissed off the car didn't start one morning........
Obviously this is something all you guys feel as well, just venting
