Hey all. Ran into an interesting issue with a heil furnace, which is an uncommon brand in my area, Edmonton.
Replaced the control board because the old one was so dead it didn't even have power. New board fires up, gives me an error code that the high limit has been triggered.
Reset limit, furnace turns on, first thing that fires up is the blower motor. High limit trips again, even though there has been no gas or flame. Replace high limit switch and manual reset limit switch.
Blower motor still the only thing working. Code on board continues to says high limit issue. Jumper the limits, same error code. There should be no reason the blower motor is the first thing to turn on. Get second new board. Same error code.
Ensure that all other things are working. Pressure switch is fine, inducer motor spins.
Slowly lose mind. Call into Heil to get on with there tech support. They require the the distributer call in, as they don't deal with individuals. Call my supplier. They call in, gets ticket number. Company calls them back, I'm parking my car when they try to three way me, so I couldn't answer. They say, oh well, we are closing (they are in Tennessee) try again tomorrow.
I'm going to guess that i'm getting screwed up Ohm's through the gas valve? I disconnected all of the wiring harnesses that run through the valve, which should have messed up the error codes, as the limits are on the far side of the GV, so nothing should happen cause the circuits aren't complete.... blower motor fires up, says high limit has tripped.
Anyone help out an exasperated person, since Heil doesn't seem to want to help.
Best Wishes, and thanks in advance for the advice.
