I live in the north east US and currently I have a programmable thermostat on the first floor which controls the temperature for that zone, Fan (auto, on), and System (Cool, off, Heat). My second zone (on the second floor) is controlled by an old mercury thermostat with no additional settings or control.
I'd like to change out the 2nd zone thermostat with something programmable and has the potential to put additional sensors in the bedrooms. I have a very open house and if I run a fireplace downstairs it heats the upstairs hall and the bedrooms are very cold.
It seems like many of the advanced thermostats I'm looking at could also control the Fan and System. I'm concerned about the conflict that will create. Are there any systems that are smart enough to synchronize the changeover setting in both zones or will that always need to be done manually?
My Zone control panel is a honeywell HZ322 so I have some options.
