So long story short a "family friend" was going to get and install our new furnace. I had payed him a couple days ago. His "friend" price was what i found to be a pretty usual estimate for the model. But then the second person we had look into it offered a better efficiency and i believe better brand for $400 less. So now hes saying there would be a restocking fee to return the furnace he bought. He said because we have a downflow he had to open it up and check it out so he's not sure how the returning could be.
So is there usually a restocking fee? And did he need to open it to check it and would that effect returning it. Restocking fee could be 30 to 40% of cost. He was doing this as a side thing and not directly through his company to save us money, he said
