Is it viable to start a HVAC career at 45?

I'm thinking about changing careers at 45. From 17-30 I worked in the trades, mostly construction but also some roofing. The last 15 years Ive been managing restaurants. I just cant do it anymore, working nights and every weekend til 2-3a, all holidays, making 40k working 60hrs. It sucks and I'm over it.

I'm thinking about HVAC, in my area on the job websites there are constantly 30 companies begging people to come work for them offering thousands in signing bonuses. I'm physically fit and do plenty of lifting and bending at work, I'm good in small spaces, on roofs and I'm pretty sure I can handle the math.

Are there any older HVAC guys here that can give me advice? Would it be wise for me to go to technical school?

Thanks Reddit!
