This is kind of a general topic not strictly related to HVAC but construction jobs in general, especially those who are just starting as a helper or apprentice and you have no control of the schedule or work to take but you have rent to pay every month.
What do you guys do when you have done your part as an HVAC installer and you have to wait for the drywall guys to do their part before you can continue your work. You have another construction project coming but it's not starting until 2-3 weeks later. You have rent and other bills to pay. You are just starting out and you don't make a lot per hour. What do you guys do between these times?
Do you get a part time job? Volunteer? Will employers even consider us that have sort of an unknown time schedule (eg. your boss might suddenly get a repair/maintenance job all of a sudden and need you to work) as opposed to more stable and predictable part-timers like students?
