This is the layout of our basement:

It's about 450-500 sq ft, give or take. The window is a small one in a 3' deep well. We have forced air heating in Seattle, with a vent in the spare room, office, and bathroom to push hot air. There's no cold air return downstairs, unfortunately, and no convenient place to really put one in at this time.
The downstairs never really smells musty or anything, but I'm going to start working from home more often in the basement office space, and it seems like a good idea to get some more air flow down under if I'll be there for nine or ten hours a day.
If I got like a Vornado-type air circulator, is that what I might be after? If so, where should I put it for maximum benefit? I was thinking it should go by the door to the spare room, aimed back toward the hallway that leads to the stairs...?
