Problem: A 14" window opening in a pre-civil war home is too narrow for window unit A/Cs we have found to fit it. 14" wide is the limit. Would a 14" high unit installed on its side work? Or is that a problem for the compressor / etc???

*can't cut window opening wider. We have 30 " height to work with.

Or if you have a better low cost solution! Its a ground floor guest bedroom, 9' x 11' and there is no retrofitted AC vent to that room on the end of the home. The rest of the home has a/c routed from the attic but that door needs to be closed as they create music in there.
