I'm just trying to figure out whether what we're experiencing is normal.
We had a new AC installed as part of having a furnace installed. During the winter we had lots of issues with the quality of work on the furnace, but have mostly resolved them but it took a ton of visits, but it took a lot of my vacation time to accommodate their repeated appointments. The company that installed in and I have a somewhat adversarial relationship, because of the furnace stuff, but unfortunately the labor for repairs for the AC is only through them so I either have to have them come out (and hope they fix it correctly) or pay someone else to come out and fix it, or just leave it (if it's normal that's fine with me).
The AC is installed on a deck, same place as the old heat pump. The AC turned on for the first time since the install, and there is a low "moaning" in the middle of the house that sounds like it's coming from the walls. It sounded kind of like a bathroom fan that hits its resonance frequency. Anyway, I thought that was weird, so I went out to the AC and the entire deck is shaking. The best I can describe it, is it is like being on one of the foot massagers at the mall, the entire length of our ~ 10x16 ft deck. When I go inside, I realized you can put your hand on the external wall next to the deck, and some of the interior walls further into the house, and feel the vibrations from the AC unit running.
It only does it with the AC unit running. I guess I'm trying to figure out whether this is normal. I called them and initially they said it was impossible to be the AC if we're hearing/feeling something inside the house so it must be the furnace fan, even though it didn't happen when the furnace was running.
