Hello,
I'm in the process of doing some remodeling in my house and installing hardwood floors. I realized that one of the vents I wanted to cover up just so happens to be a return vent.
I've attached a couple of pictures and will try to describe as best as I can.
In the first picture, the red boxes are the air registers and the blue boxes are the return vents. They are built into the walls, I just extended them so that they are easy to see. The poorly drawn blue rectangle is where the ducting is located in the basement. The returns are about 2x the size of the registers.
The second picture shows the section of wall I'd like to remove, however that also includes one of the returns.
My question is:
Instead of relocating the vent I need to remove, is it possible to just close it up and add another vent on the other side of the wall, where the existing vent already is?
The reason I ask is because I'll have two openings pulling air through ducting that was meant for just one. Not sure if this may or may not be a problem.
Worst case, I can leave the existing vent and make it flush with the hardwood, but would rather not do that.
Thanks for the help!
