Hello,
I live in an old west-facing apartment on the 3rd floor of a 4-story old building in Southwestern Ontario, beside Detroit. Last year, our building management decided to install, modern horizontal casement-style windows that do no support window ACs. In the 2 bedrooms (10'x10' and 12'x12'), I have small portable ACs that do a good job, however in the main living room (~300-400 sq-ft) it is unbearable. Yesterday, I walked into a 97F degree home!
I currently have a 2-hose portable DPA110DHA1CP Danby AC. I keep the 2 hoses as straight and short as possible and use a continuous drain. I use blackout curtains, limit light and appliance use, spread out fans to circulate air, but nothing seems to work. The best it can do is get the temperature down to 83F but only until night time comes. By night time, I often just setup the box fans to blow the cool air in from outside. I tried programming the AC to turn on at 3 pm, but no matter how much time you give, it doesn't seem to be able to compete with the heat coming from outside or underneath the apartment.
I would love any suggestions
Thanks,
