Homeowner here with a 9 year old builder grade Trane Heatpump. HVAC tech came for bi-annual check-up and said my TXV and coil needed to be replaced (leaking). Trying to decide best plan of action. Getting a quote for the work tomorrow, but his early guess was $1000-$1500 for this work. He also suggested would likely be $5-7k for completely new unit.
My first thought is that I'd go ahead and just do the repair, recognizing that my system may only have a few more years left. Wanted to see if folks agree there, or are there things I'm not considering.
