My 1 year old $350 LG 1600btu AC was just turned on for the first time yesterday, and it seems to me like the fan is blasting all the time but the compressor(?) only intermittently turns on for a short time every 10 or 15 minutes giving me cold air. The filter is clean, and it's in the strongest mode at the lowest temperature setting, but it doesn't make the room colder (like I remember from last year).
I found a guy on craigslist who can service it for $125 plus parts. Am I better off to get a new AC, and not risk that I'll end up paying $125+ and not get it running, or it's pretty safe to assume he'll get it working again for cheaper.
