Hello, I apologize in advance if this is the incorrect subreddit to post in, and I appreciate any support you may share. I've just purchased an Ecobee3 wireless thermostat, but I do not have C wiring going to the thermostat (which the Ecobee3 requires), and am thus using a kit (titled the Power Extender Kit) to leverage the R wire in getting power to the thermostat. However, I am having an issue with determining how to configure the wiring, which I now anticipate requiring the purchase of potentially additional wiring and a connector. I've included images below of the pieces I currently have:
My goal is to connect:
1. The wires in Picture 1 into the HVAC control board in the left of Picture 2 (also male); and
2. The wires in the plastic female-to-female connector in the right of Picture 2 into the female connector shown in Picture 3.
It appears to me that I require a female-to-female connection to complete the first step, though I am unsure of what specifically to look for in this purchase, as I haven't even been able to determine the proper vernacular to search for this connection. I also believe that I need wiring to complete the female-to-female connection in step 2, but I believe that the gauges do not exactly match between the two connections.
Where is the proper place to start with problem-solving this issue? For context, I live in SE Michigan (semi-humid), my HVAC is model 64HWC4-09-301P-1A, and the Ecobee3 is model EB-STATE3-02. Both sets of wire state 18 gauge, but the wires in picture 2 appear to be thicker than those in picture 1. Please let me know if there are additional pieces that would be helpful to include, and thank you again.
