I'm looking to get a mitsubishi ductless system installed in my upstairs rooms since my central heat/ac is failing to work up there very well.
Both contractors I've spoken with want to install a mitsubishi mxz series 12k btu system. Quotes have ranged from 6.6-8.2k for the install. Both of them told me it takes less than a day to install. The unit itself look like it costs a bit under 3k. Is markup and labor seriously this much? The 6.6k quote included one wall-mounted unit, the 8.2k quote included an additional floor unit for another room.
Not only that, but both of them said they would put the unit on top of a plastic pad to keep it off of the ground for snow clearance. They don't bolt it down or anything, but told me the lines would keep them secured. Couldn't this thing potentially blow over in a bad storm, or be stolen easily?
