Ways to extend the life of 10yr old hot water heater.

I have a 30+ gallon hot water heater and I would like to pull some maintenance on it to extend its life. Any thoughts on what I should be doing or parts to replace which might help make the unit last longer/be more efficient?

FWIW: I turn the unit off when I travel for long period of time and I flush it out yearly.
